Year of Kayla :)

  Hello friends! It's been so long. I am very sorry about that. A lot has happened since I last wrote an entry. Not all amazing, but then there is some pretty amazing things that have been going on. I moved. For the first time, aside from a brief stint in University, I am living away from home. And surprisingly, I'm okay with that. It's new. And we all know how I dislike new and change. But it's forward. I've done standing still and backwards for so long.
  And I think I am finally ready for some more new. I was told, by a very good friend today that I need to make this year the "Year of Kayla". I've spent so long taking care of other people. And I do love to do that, but it's gotten to the point where I've forgotten how to take care of myself. How to be happy.
  So I'm taking that very good advice. Starting now, (aside from the overwhelming urge to buy new pens for back to school haha) I am choosing to be happy. More books, more reading, more writing. More Once Upon a Time, Bones, Castle. More cups of hot chocolate enjoyed in the brisk fall evenings. More sunsets spent with the One who created them. More time with God in general. New church, Breaking Free study, and Lord knows what else.
  I jokingly told my friend I would plant a flag to claim this year for me. To take time to appreciate what I have to offer to others again, and offer it. To feel better about who I am. And to start focusing on my own goals in life. Finishing a book, looking in to publication. Making new friends. Dating. Enjoying the extra time I've been blessed with to spend with my pretty amazing family and friends. But also spending time with myself and for myself. Perhaps a lot more trips to Pinecroft, a little more random shopping, and whatever else God would like to send my way.
  Some of this will be baby steps. But I am so looking forward to it. Because... (and this may sound scandalous) I am worth it. So this is my FLAG. I>
