Accomplishment on a day that should be lazy...

Days like this seem to me to be perfect for curling up in my bed with a good book, and if I get really energetic, some homemade hot chocolate.  Unfortunately, I've been quite productive today, so the longing to lounge shall have to wait, even as that wonderful mist outside my window is calling me to my book case to pick out something I can skim in my arm chair...
It all started with my dragging myself out of bed after several arguments with my alarm clock (which did not seem to grasp the fact that it was gloomy out and my bed was deliciously warm), to marinate some pork loins in sparkling apple juice.  (I would have loved to have done that last night, but sadly the pork chops were still frozen.)  Amazingly, after wandering down to the kitchen to do this, I forgot all about my promise to myself to slip back under my fuzzy blanket, and stayed up to do my morning bible read.  Go me!
Then came what I thought would be my big undertaking of the day... (After an extra large Kayla-sized bowl of Lucky Charms to keep my strength up): cleaning. the. basement.  You see our basement has kind of become a catch all for everyone's junk (mostly my father's), and I've decided that I want another room in the house that feels like mine, besides my bedroom that is.  So I have taken it upon myself to start cleaning it; help dry wall, mud, sand, paint, and eventually decorate it, all on my own time and as far as I know with my own money.  (If you've ever even caught a glimpse of my basement you would understand how ambitious this is.)  Blame it on the fact that I grew up watching Trading Spaces with my mom, but I tend to dream big when I dream of decorating.  So today, I was going to finally start this project with cleaning... which lasted until I managed to break down all the larger boxes that are definitely not needed, and then I got to a stand still, because only about 1/8th of the stuff down there is mine.  What do I keep?  What do I throw out?  Can all the junk from the pantry just go to the depot so I don't have to empty all the gross glass jars that grandma seems to like to keep?  So round one goes to you basement.  But don't worry, I'm going to have a fool proof plan by Monday, and then we'll see who catches who off guard!
So, instead of all that cleaning, I managed to get my brother's baseball stats done for him, so that he can stop whining at me that they aren't done yet.  Much more than I thought I might get done after the disappointing basement escapade.  And after sitting for so long looking at numbers, and then taking a break to write this, I guess it's time to go put those pork loins in the oven.  Now what shall I make as a side dish...?  If anyone is reading this, I hope this finds you well, and enjoying your day whether it's full of accomplishment or relaxation... or even a happy mix of both. :)
<3 Kayla
