I'm a loser. Don't worry, I'm completely aware of it, and rather enjoy embracing it. Which is why I spent my morning/afternoon making lists; my step by step plan to clean out the basement (yes, I apparently need a list for that... like I said, loser. :P), my list of people I need to by Christmas presents for (complete with names, individual budgets for gift cost, and ideas of what to buy), and what I want for Christmas (since I usually am left scrambling to let people know what I might like). Three different pages, three different lists, and I've accomplished what I set out to finish today.
But as I sit in the kitchen, waiting for the timer to go off on the cake I'm making for Grandma's 79th birthday dinner, I'm thinking about how I don't often plan out my days. Perhaps I should. Maybe I should make an everyday check list to keep my priorities straight, since they can go very askew. (Yes. I said askew.) So here it goes:
The Ultimate Everyday Kayla Checklist
- Wake up at a decent time. No more double digits on the clock before I'm up and about.
- Read my bible. (I technically already do this most mornings, but I should probably take my time more)
- Pray. I mean really pray, not just for myself, but specifically for those around me that I love (and those I'm not too fond of). Please let me know if you need prayer for something specific in your life. I promise to purposely make time to pray for you.
- Get some fresh air! I love being outside, but I usually don't like to walk by myself. Well that stops now.
- Acknowledge that I am a Phenomenal Creation of God. PCOG baby! Stop putting myself down and try to see me how God and my friends and family see me.
- Cook something from scratch. (Since my main character in my next book is a chef, cooking and baking have been on my mind lately. I actually feel a little guilty that the cake I'm making for Grandma came from a box. I can almost hear Jamie telling me I should have put more effort into it... but it is rainbow bit...)
- Write!!! Not just a blog entry (even though I am highly enjoying doing these), but an outline, or a page, or a chapter or two in a book. If this is going to be a career, I need to make it a priority.
<3 Kayla
